IceLolly.com - Doris

Whilst on placement at Gratterpalm me & my creative partner where tasked with creating a social campaign to run alongside a television advert that was in production for the travel comparison company 'IceLolly.com'. The TV advertisement features an electronic ice cream van that stops in front of a woman in the park to show her the weekly deals on offer, thrown in for a bit of comical effect is a taxidermy squirrel that spins around as the ice cream van passes him.

Using this taxidermy squirrel as the focal point for our campaign we called him 'Doris'.

Facebook & Twitter:

Option one: Where did Doris dig? Running alongside the television advertisement is a virtual hunt to find where Doris buried his nuts. IceLolly.com will place images or emoticons of nuts on their Facebook posts which date back as far as 2008, after posting a status to notify their followers that the nut hunt has begun it is down to the public to find them. once found, a screenshot and a comment is required to be sent onto IceLolly.com where the winners will then be given a prize which could possibly be a UK break on the company. This idea could also be replicated on Twitter with IceLolly.com replying to one of their old posts with an image/ emoticon of a nut, a hashtag would accompany the game to generate interest.

Option two: How did Doris depart? This idea is a creative writing prompt. IceLolly.com would ask the question on Facebook through a status, requiring participants to come up the the most interesting and creative ways that Doris ended up as a taxidermy squirrel. IceLolly.com could select their favorite story or leave it down to a Facebook vote through how many likes each post gets. The winner could then receive a UK break on the company. The idea could work on Twitter, however participants would be required to come up with short, creative entries that are limited to 140 characters. The tag #Doris'Demise could run alongside the campaign.

Option Three (Not Doris Related) : Cure the holiday blues. This idea could be reserved for IceLolly.com customers or open to the public. participants are required to send in their best holiday snaps which must feature them holding an ice lolly. these images will then be posted to Facebook & Twitter where the best snap will win a UK break after returning from their trip to help cure their holiday blues.

Vine:

IceLolly.com could post the many videos on Youtube of squirrels surviving amazing falls from height followed up with 'Nope not that time!' These videos would be shareable for the fact that they are interesting and death-defying, creating a buzz around the campaign.

Ambient:

Taxidermy squirrels equipped with collars could be placed around the UK, It is down to the public to find the one that is Doris. Updates from Twitter would help participants find the general area that he's located in and it would be then down to the public to hunt him out. Doris would be the taxidermy squirrel with an ice lolly stuck in his mouth.
